Dougie takes on 300 mile cycle

Auchtermuchty will be hosting a great night of music and song in the Victoria Hall on the 20th September 2008. Featuring an all-star line-up, the guests are Sheila Stewart, Siobhan Miller, Brian Miller, Jimmy Hutchison, Aileen Carr and Clatto Junction. The aim of the concert is to raise money for Cancerbackup/Macmillan Cancer Support.
Dougie Mackenzie, the man behind the series of concerts, is undertaking a mammoth 300 mile sponsored cycle which will take him from Inverness through Glasgow, Dunkeld, Auchtermuchty, Melrose and Aberdeen before finally returning to Inverness. On his arrival at each town, many of Scotland’s finest folk performers will be giving their talents at concerts to raise funds for, and awareness of, Cancerbackup/Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as donating to the local branches of the TMSA who are helping to organise each of the concerts in their area.
Dougie says, “I am dedicating this venture to the memory of my great friend, Citty Finlayson, who was a great ambassador for traditional music and a fundraiser and supporter of Cancerbackup, both of which played a big part in her wonderful fight against cancer which she sadly lost in 2005. This is for Citty and all those we have lost too soon.”
